Anchor Baby
Black Crooke Theatre, 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $10 at the
door; free for Lake City students.
Written by Silverton's own Blair Runion, Anchor Baby
profiles World War II veterans and childhood friends,
Don Edwards and Carl Laughlin, as they plan to take one
last cross-country motorcycle trip together. As the plot
unfolds we discover that both men have accepted the
responsibilities of rearing children – Don has raised his
granddaughter after the death of his wife and son. Carl
has raised a daughter with some doubt that she was
even his own. Both are ready to shed their anchor
babies and take this cross-country trip. Fate interferes
with their plans, and the play makes some very pointed
comments about living.
